2S4Y sketch #51

I found this great sketch blog called 2 sketches 4 you while I was drifting through cyberspace yesterday, and thought I would have a go at their sketch this week.

So here is the sketch by Kazan....

And here is my interpretation - I have flipped and rotated it ;)

Here is a close up of the depth of the layers and the flower:

I have used MME Bella Bella papers, BG Blush, and Bazzill cardstock plus a little scrap card. The quote is from Kaisercraft 'friends' stamps. I have used some Tim Holtz distress inks to take away the hard edges of the frames. The base of the flower has been inked, run through the cuttlebug, sanded, and inked some more. The little petals are little punched circles which have been sliced and reglued to form cupped petals.

I had fun making this card - thanks!

My First ATC

I have finally given it a go, and made my first ATC - never thought I would, but as usual, it's hard to stay away from what everyone else is doing!

I first stamped some Tim Holtz stamps with versamark and clear embossed them, before using Tim Holtz Distress Inks (peeled paint, fired brick, barn door, old paper, mustard seed, tea dye) - to smoosh around and make my background, with a little water for extra blending. A couple more stamps on top, and the largest bird has been re stamped on scrap card so I could make him go 3D. The mounted quote is a portion of the Tim Holtz stamp used on the background, and sort of sums up how I felt about finally sitting down to create my first ATC.

Because I could, I have linked this post up to a Sunday Stamper challenge run by Hels Sheridan - you should check out her blog ;)

Stamps used: Tim Holtz - French Market, Lifes Possibilities and Lost and Found; Kaisercraft - Dear Santa

Thanks for stopping by

Inkurable Stampers 2nd Birthday - Challenge #3

So this was the last challenge issued for Inkurable Stampers birthday weekend, and it was to showcase a technique called 'spotlighting'. I used a similar technique on my Christmas cards last year, although I used a jigsaw puzzle piece to highlight a portion of my stamp - you can view it here.

I used Darkroom Door "Essentials 4" stamps on my oversize tag (to be attached to a LO at a later date). I highlighted the whole of the centre part of the stamp and raised it over a layer of black cardstock for extra emphasis. The raised portion was coloured just with normal colouring pencils.

The quote was cut up and mounted on separate pieces of cardstock before attaching to the tag. The quote in the background comes from the same stamp set, but wasn't long enough to fill the required space, so I just stamped it a second time above to fill in the gap (as you weren't meant to be able to read the quote).

Inkurable Stampers 2nd Birthday - Challenge #2

The second challenge at Inkurable Stampers 2nd birthday was to create a piece of 2 x 4 inch art. I have created a grunged tag, using only card and paper scraps. The background collage was stamped in black ink using Kaiser 'All About Me' stamps. The arrow is from Kaiser 'Rewind' stamps, and was stamped in black, heat embossed using AED clear powder, and then bronze powder was sprinkled into the centre of the arrow and heated for a two-colour effect.

The lines are See D's 'Great Shapes Journalling' and give room to write some detail at a future time when this tag is attached to a LO or attached to a gift.
I have grunged and textured this piece with sandpaper, sewing, distressing the edges, and adding 2 different ribbon textures.

Inkurable Stampers 2nd Birthday - Challenge #1

So I have had a very busy weekend, with 3 challenges set by Sarah at Inkurable Stampers for the blogs 2nd birthday, but it was a lovely weekend - thanks Sarah!

The first challenge was a sketch challenge, and you could interpret it any way you wanted, providing you used a stamp. Well, this was actually the last challenge I completed, and I think I went a bit overboard.

Firstly, I have used MME "Bella Bella" papers, and the stamps I have used are Darkroom Door "Art De Fleur Vol 2" and Technique Tuesday "Everyday Words". The small panel (the first version of the sketch) opens to the right and is made up of a cut up image of a photo stamp from the Art De Fleur Vol 2 set, with a greeting mounted over the top.

When the small panel is opened, it reveals a duplicate of the photo stamp image cut up on the right, and the main panel with lightly stamped 'everyday words' and another greeting (this is the 2nd version of sketch I have used).

And here is the fully opened version of the card.

Inkurable Stampers April 2010 Challenge

The challenge over at Inkurable Stampers for April was a colour challenge - red/black/white, as well, of course, using a stamp on your creation.

I chose to make a card for this challenge. I have used Darkroom Door 'background floral' and the newly released Darkroom Door 'Art De Fleur Vol 2' stamps to create this card.

The large flower was cut in half and separated, and the flower (stamped on to white cardstock, and mounted on black cardstock) was attached over the flower with 3D mounting tape.

On the inside, I have used the same flower stamp, although I have stamped it partly off the cardstock, as well as using a small greeting out of the same collection of stamps. The buckle is from Bella, and the flower images and the greeting were clear embossed with AED embossing powder.

First Layout for 2010

I can't believe I just said that. Here we are into April, and I have only just completed one layout for this year! Where has the time gone?

Anyway, I used Kaisercraft 'Dear Santa' papers for this layout, and a fair bit of inking and stamping which doesn't show up so well in the photos.

Thanks for dropping by
