The Play Date Cafe #66 Who's ready for.....

A splash of colour?!  Yes that's right, it's time for another splash of colour at the Play Date Cafe this week!  Your task should you choose to accept (and why not??!!) is to create something using black and white and a splash of this awesome colour......

I have created a birthday card this week.  White cardstock was first layered on a base of black cardstock, and flourishes from Paper Artsy stamped in black archival ink.  A smaller piece of black was layered with more white and a journal stamp from Paper Artsy was clear embossed on this layer, which was then handstitched with the first splash of colour from the DMC thread.  The sentiment was stamped in black archival ink also.

I have cut a strip of black cardstock which has been border punched on both sides to create hole to attach through some crinkled white seam binding, and attached with 3D foam tape.

The flowers are from Paper Artsy, and I have made three layers - white emboss on black card, black emboss on white card, and clear emboss on white card.  Roll the petals a little for some dimension and attach a button using the same splash of colour thread.  The dragonfly is also from PaperArtsy and was first stamped and trimmed using a Tombow marker, and another trimmed out of black cardstock for a kind of shadow effect.  He was attached with a piece of wire for his antennae.

We are being sponsored once again by the fabulous Cosmo Cricket!

You can pop on over to the Play Date Cafe for more information on the challenge, find out details of the prize, or to load up your entry!  Or you can pop around to some of the other design team members blog for more great inspiration!

I'm not sure how you added that crinkle ribbon, but it looks so neat with your dragonfly and flower. Such a pretty card.
